2026 Update: New Protection Options and Rentals Without a Security Deposit
The new Filorent Terms of Service will come into effect on April 1, 2026. The revised rental conditions directly address two common constraints for car rentals: the temporary commitment of the bank credit limit and the management of damage deductibles. The new contractual structure reorganizes optional coverage and introduces guarantees designed for those traveling with debit cards only.
To accommodate drivers' varying financial availability, the extra services have been summarized into three main categories, which can be configured during the quote phase.
Zero Deposit (ZERD)
This independent option completely eliminates the pre-authorization of funds on the card at the time of pick-up. By releasing the amount from the security deposit, the credit limit remains fully accessible for daily travel expenses.
Top Protection (TP)
A solution that combines standard vehicle damage coverage (CP) with a specific extension for glass and tires (GT). The inclusion of these historically vulnerable items automatically eliminates the need to withhold the security deposit.
Debit Top Protection (DTP)
Designed to enable rentals for those who do not have a traditional credit card. In addition to coverage for damage, glass, and tires, with the associated elimination of the blocked funds, this package includes continuous roadside assistance (ASI), necessary to cover the risks of vehicle recovery in the absence of traditional bank guarantees.
The transition to the new packages is uniformly active across the entire Filorent logistics network. The provisions cover the airports of Puglia (Bari, Brindisi), Campania (Naples, Salerno), and the Reggio Calabria branch, located in the immediate vicinity of the Strait of Messina Airport. Similar provisions apply to pickups at city and railway stations, from Naples Central Station (TS) to the operational offices in Lecce, Alessano, and Nardò.
The rate simulator on the web portal already incorporates the new commercial guidelines. By entering the pickup dates and locations, the algorithm calculates the real-time impact of each package on the total, allowing the customer to define the pricing and insurance terms before arriving at the counter.
